During a Regular Meeting of the Windsor Unified School District on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, the School Board approved the appointment of Sharon Ferrer as our new Principal of Cali Calmécac Language Academy. Sharon Ferrer will be stepping into the role currently served by Jeanne Acuña, who is retiring at the end of the 2017-18 school year.

Sharon Ferrer is known to the Windsor Unified School District and Cali Calmécac Language Academy (CCLA) community as she has served the community for three and a half years, first as a Guidance Counselor, and next as their Assistant Principal beginning the 2015-16 school year. Ferrer’s career spans 22 years in education, encompassing both elementary and secondary positions, in private, public and charter schools. Ferrer began her education career as a teaching intern in pre-kinder and kindergarten at the American School of Madrid (Spain). She continued there as an intern teacher in first grade and then went on to teach math and science in grades 9-12. In 2001, Ferrer returned to the States and continued teaching science and math at Napa High School and then in 2002 she became their Guidance Counselor. Ferrer moved on to other districts serving high school and middle school students as an Intervention Counselor and an Assistant Principal, before coming to CCLA.

Ferrer earned her Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Hispanic Literature and Culture and in Biology from Brown University. She earned her teacher certification from Michigan State University. She followed that with a Master’s Degree in Secondary School Counseling from Sonoma State University, and most recently earned her Administrative Services Credential.
