PREPARING FOR KINDERGARTEN
Kindergarten will be a new and exciting experience for your child. Take this opportunity to expose them to Spanish – Check out a Spanish book at the library, go over any words or numbers you know, listen to Spanish children’s CD’s – Jose Luis Orozco, Tatiana, or switch the language track on your child’s favorite video to Spanish for a while.
Finally, your child should be able to do most of the following to get the most out of Kindergarten:

If your child has acquired most of the skills on this list and will be at least four years old at the start of the summer before he or she starts kindergarten, he or she is probably ready for kindergarten. What teachers want to see on the first day of school are children who are healthy, mature, capable, and eager to learn.
Occasionally, we do find that students born later in the year (September to December) are sometimes not ready to begin our program. Social maturity, language development, and attention span all are important traits for incoming students. We fully recognize that every student is different and that parents know their child best, but do ask that if your child has a late birthday, that you consider whether he or she is ready for kindergarten or if s/he may benefit from an additional year of pre-school. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
